Cardinal News reported January 8 that the commission voted unanimously the previous Tuesday to recommend denial. After removal of one parcel, the application covered about 747 acres and sought heavy-industry zoning for 12 data-center buildings and a proposed 3,500-megawatt power plant. Staff cited insufficient finalized development commitments addressing effects on neighbors; residents raised noise, lighting, property-value and environmental concerns. This was not the final supervisors’ decision, which remained scheduled for February 18 in that report, and neither buildings nor generation were established operations. The reporting does not establish that the proposed facilities would run exclusively AI workloads.
