On August 18, 2025 Google, Kairos and TVA announced a power purchase agreement between TVA and Kairos for the Hermes 2 plant in Oak Ridge. Kairos said it would increase the proposed output from 28 MW to 50 MW, targeting operation in 2030; Google would receive clean-energy attributes through TVA for data centers in Montgomery County, Tennessee, and Jackson County, Alabama. This is a distinct, site-specific implementation step under the October 2024 Google–Kairos framework, not an additional unrelated 500 MW commitment or a reactor already supplying power. Reuters’s August 18 story was corrected and updated August 19 to change an erroneous gigawatt reference to megawatts. The event date is August 18, and 50 MW is the corrected capacity.
