On December 12, CRU published its new Large Energy Users connection-policy decision. It said new data centers connecting under the policy must provide new renewable and dispatchable electricity generation to address security of supply and renewable-energy objectives. This is a final policy milestone, distinct from the 2021 direction and intervening consultations. The regulator describes data-center demand and grid constraints generally; its announcement does not establish an AI-specific allocation of the affected electricity demand.
