On March 10, 2021, a fire at the OVHcloud campus in Strasbourg destroyed one data center and damaged part of a second, knocking millions of websites offline. France's industrial-risk investigation agency (BEA-RI) recorded no deaths or injuries and found the fire originated in rooms housing batteries and uninterruptible power supplies; the precise ignition cause remained undetermined when its report was issued in May 2022.
