On June 5, 2026 an early-morning fire struck an STT Global Data Centres India facility in New Delhi co-owned by ST Telemedia and Tata Communications. A Tata unit letter seen by Reuters said the fire caused "extensive damage" to parts of the facility, making data recovery challenging; client Matrix Cellular said it was struggling to recover two decades of data. Television images showed burnt server racks and collapsed ceiling panels. Sources do not establish an AI-specific use.
