Damages

On March 1, 2026, Amazon Web Services said two of its facilities in the United Arab Emirates were directly struck by drones, while a nearby drone strike caused physical impacts to its infrastructure in Bahrain; AWS confirmed the drone connection on March 2. Reported effects included structural damage, disrupted electricity supplies, service outages and, in some cases, additional water damage from fire suppression; the cited reporting does not identify the affected cities. AI connection: General data center — the sources establish damage to AWS cloud infrastructure, not that the affected facilities were specifically AI data centers or that AI workloads were affected.
